Peter Oliver Loughran runs a beef farm and contracting business in Emyvale, Co. Monaghan. On the beef side of the business Peter Oliver mainly buys in store cattle and finishes them. Peter Oliver started contracting in 1989 and bought his first McHale machine in 1993. He covers a radius of 10 miles from his yard and bales about 12,500 bales per year.

Peter Oliver bought one of the first McHale F550’s in 2005 and has used McHale balers since. All the bales Peter Oliver does are wrapped with a McHale 991BJS joystick bale wrapper.

At the moment Peter Oliver runs a McHale F5500 which does most of the work clocking up 10,000 bales last year. During busy times Peter Oliver also brings out his older F550 which did 2,500 bales last year.

Peter Oliver says “They are two good balers, they are easy to drive and easy on diesel”

For anyone looking for a baler for next season Peter Oliver’s advice would be;

“McHale are a good baler, you should go and try one, they are tried and tested and well proven in Irish conditions, over the years I have also found that they have good resale value when it comes to upgrading”

Peter Oliver said “I like the McHale F5500 because it is a simple honest baler which is very straight forward and reliable. You can put any driver on it and it will perform faultlessly”

We work in hilly country so I pull the F5500 with a John Deere 6140R. We bale all 10ft rows after the mower and chop all the bales. The chop quality on the F5500 is very good. While the netter on the F5500 is very reliable”

“The F5500 is a good trouble free baler that is simple to operate and maintain. McHale products are always a good investment as they hold their money well”
