Electronic Technician
Location: Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo, Ireland
Title: Electronic Technician

McHale is seeking to recruit an Electronic Technician to participate in the on-going development; design, testing and repairing of electronic control systems used on the McHale range of agricultural machinery. This is a permanent full-time position based within our R&D facility in Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing and testing of electronic hardware for McHale products.
  • Diagnose and repair of faults in electronic hardware returned under warranty from customers.
  • Communicate with customers and service personnel to debug and address electronic issues in the field.
  • Ongoing updates of documentation and repair logs.
  • Proactively review and recommend improvements to existing electronic system designs.
  • Liaise with electronic suppliers to implement ongoing hardware improvements.
  • Lab and field testing of complete McHale product electronic control systems.
  • Liaise with electronic and mechanical design engineers to create technical electronic specifications for new products.
  • Build prototype wiring harnesses to facilitate machine testing.
  • Field testing near the factory in Ballinrobe will be a part of the role during summer months.
  • Provide technical assistance to mechanical design engineers as required.
  • Provide production support as necessary – assisting with fault finding and repair.
  • On occasions it may be necessary to travel to a customer site to diagnose an electronic issue.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Must be able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of 12-volt electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of CAN Bus systems is an advantage but not essential.
  • An innovative mind-set with a self-motivated drive for perfection.
  • Experience with agricultural machinery is an advantage but not essential.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills.
  • Full Clean Driving Licence


Candidate Qualifications:

Minimum Level 7 in any related discipline and 2/3 years related experience.

McHale is looking to recruit an IT Support Assistant. The successful candidate will need to be available to work flexible hours. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced, driven team environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the IT manager in the delivery of user IT support throughout the company.
  • Help ensuring computer hardware and software is updated and maintained properly.
  • Install and maintain a variety of peripherals.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical manuals and IT documentation.
  • Assist users in handling and learning desktop applications.
  • Assist in the maintenance and development of networks.
  • Create network and user accounts for staff and provide them with login information.

Service/ Product Support Engineer

SERVICE/ PRODUCT SUPPORT ENGINEER

A position is available for a Service/ Product Engineer based at our Ballinrobe plant for initial training and during off-peak periods. The candidate will be involved in working with our  sales force and dealer network. The candidate needs to be highly self motivated with good enthusiasm for agricultural machinery.

  • Experience within this sector is essential, in the operation and maintenance of farm equipment.
  • Knowledge in the baling wrapping area is beneficial, but not compulsory as training for the position will be supplied.
