The Environmental Health & Safety Manager reports to the General Manager & is solely responsible for the Environmental Health & Safety function of McHale Engineering & Farm Machinery. The following are the key job responsibilities of this role:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Champion the Environmental, Health & Safety agenda for the company & create a culture of best practice
  • Ensure full compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety legislation
  • Establish & regularly review policies to create & maintain a safe workplace
  • Conduct & evaluate hazards & risks to ensure continuous improvement
  • Develop & manage a comprehensive Environmental Management System
  • Enforce high standards of housekeeping throughout all facilities
  • Identify H&S training needs, devise & deliver appropriate training
  • Communicate relevant H&S information to employees at briefings, on noticeboards & on signage
  • Coordinate the Health & Safety Committee, ensuring appropriate Department Representatives are chosen and chair productive meetings with measurable solutions & outcomes

Job Responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in the design/ building/ testing of electronic control systems and wiring harnesses on agricultural machinery.
  • Lab testing and debugging of electronics and machine application software.
  • In-field testing of electronics/software on agricultural machines during the Summer months.

Candidate Requirements:

This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively and independently. The successful candidate must have familiarity with electronic circuitry to the degree necessary to test and debug software functions on target hardware.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and test embedded software in C.
  • Modify and extend existing embedded system software to add new functionality.
  • Liaise with customers and/or service personnel to troubleshoot and resolve software problems.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to resolve design/debugging issues.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience of software design in embedded systems and real-time applications, particularly in embedded C.

McHale manufactures a range of agricultural balers and wrappers, which are sold in 48 countries around the world.

Currently we require a Technical writer to assist in compiling and publishing technical operator manuals in our Engineering department here in Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo. The person will be required to compile and update our technical publications on a continuous basis and build on our existing template library, as well as co-ordinate and manage the translation +review process. The successful candidate must have extensive experience using publishing software like Adobe FrameMaker (or advanced MS-Word) in dealing with Index’s, Tables, Figures, Headings, Styles and Cross-references used within technical documents. They must also be proficient in image editing and manipulation and show great attention to detail. A working knowledge of 3D Design or Illustration packages is desirable but not essential.

We are currently seeking applications from candidates who possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Three to five years, experience in the design and compilation of technical documentation and image editing.
